Language is a key element for effective communication, we provide a Spanish interpretation service. Interpretation is the ideal solution to facilitate multilingual communication between businesses/people, whether a small business or an MNC, who wish to communicate but do not share a common language.
There are various forms of interpretation services, depending on the requirement:
a) Consecutive Interpretation
In consecutive interpreting (CI), the interpreter starts to interpret after the speaker pauses. Therefore, the time needed is much longer (possibly double the time needed). Traditionally, the interpreter will sit or stand near the speaker. This mode of interpretation is popular and it does not require any special equipment.
Consecutive interpretation can be conducted in a pattern of short or long segments according to the interpreter’s preference. In short CI, the interpreter relies mostly on memory whereas, in long CI, most interpreters will rely on note-taking. It is considerably easier for the interpreters and cost-effective for the client, mostly used in small business meetings or where the interaction is on a one-to-one.
b) Simultaneous Interpretation:
Simultaneous interpretation (SI) suffers the disadvantage that if a person is performing the service the interpreter must do the best, he or she can within the time permitted by the pace of source speech. However, they also have the advantages of saving time and not disturbing the speaker’s natural flow. Simultaneous interpretation involves real-time translation. This mode of interpretation is usually required during large international conferences that require immediate translation of one or multiple languages.
Simultaneous interpreting is highly skilled work. For this, it is essential to have two interpreters for a language who will simultaneously translate from the source to the target language. In this, the interpreter does not know the message until he or she hears it.
c) Whispered Interpretation
Since time immemorial, whispered interpretation (WI) has been used, known in the trade by the French term chuchotage. To avoid disturbing the original speaker and those present listening to the original speaker, the interpreter’s voice is kept at a low volume. To do this, the interpreter and the person requiring interpretation must sit or stand close to one another. No actual whispering is involved as this is difficult to decipher as well as being too much of a strain on the voice: the interpreter uses normal ‘voiced’ speech at a low volume. Only one or at the most two people in need of interpretation can be accommodated unless portable electronic equipment is used.
d) Telephonic/video-conferencing Interpretation
Telephone/video-conferencing interpreting (VCI) is the most suitable option if the interpretation is not possible to physically deliver the services. Mostly it takes place in consecutive mode.
